Sky TV: Fix “Program synopsis not available”, find the hidden install/setup menu

On our Freesat from Sky box, programme listing were showing the message “Program synopsis not available”. If you have only one cable feed connected to your Sky box (our second feed is connected to another box), this is fixed by configuring the system to use “Single Feed Mode” via the hidden Install menu. Instructions from Sky did not work for me, here’s how to solve it.

Sky suggest that:

  • On your remote, press Services, then 0 1 (select) and chose the Install menu. This did not work for me.

Solution

  • On your remote, press Services, then 0 0 1 (select), then use the “right” button to select the Setup menu
  • Scroll down the option “Single Feed mode” and ensure it is set to ON. Follow the remaining instructions to Save. A message also suggests that the system will reboot. Mine didn’t, and I had to turn off the box, and restart it.

I also note that the settings are lost every couple of months, perhaps following a software upgrade, which necessitates repeating the process.
